State Sen. Lana Theis, R-Brighton, welcomed 2022 Michigan Charter School Teacher of the Year Amy Dunlap to her Lansing office on Wednesday. Dunlap is director of family engagement, marketing, and legislative advocacy for Michigan International Prep and chair of the Michigan Chapter of the National Coalition for Public School Options. Dunlap was at the Capitol for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's 2023 State of the State address and as part of National School Choice Week.

The committee approved Theis' Senate Resolution 20, which urges recognition of chronic fatigue syndrome, or myalgic encephalomyelitis, as a serious, debilitating disease and urges key entities to improve patient care, prioritize new research, educate health professionals and raise awareness about the severity of the disease.
